UAE Residents Rally Behind Pledge and Commitment Initiative, Highlighting Unity and Belonging

UAE Pledge and Commitment Initiative

The UAE’s Pledge and Commitment has so far been lapped up by thousands of citizens across the UAE, stating that it is a strong endorsement of loyalty, gratitude, unity and connection to a country they feel they are humbled to be a citizen of. The initiative, launched by the UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, enables UAE nationals to voice their gratitude for the efforts of UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in bolstering national security, social stability and social cohesion among UAE residents.

Residents Describe the Pledge as More Than a Symbolic Gesture

Many of the participants were not “just” signing the pledge, but actually signing it because they agreed to it. Rather it was a personal pledge to the values for which the UAE has excelled over the years. Ali Al Falasi, 45, an Emirati citizen, has said that he will adhere to the pledge, as it is based on the principles of the nation on which it was built. The UAE has always ensured that people from various countries have ample opportunities as well as security and quality healthcare, education and prosperity, Al Falasi said. He highlighted the importance of respect, dignity and equality for everyone in the city, regardless of their origin.

UAE’s Strength Lies in Unity During Challenging Times

The country’s one great strength is its power to surmount difficulties with vigor, Al Falasi pointed out. He said that the UAE leadership always looked at long-term plans and that’s how the country is able to prepare itself ahead of challenges and respond effectively. The recent regional developments reflected the ongoing efforts of Emaritis and expatriates in supporting each other during the challenging times, he said. Many of his friends and colleagues from other nationalities comforted him that they would stay in UAE regardless of the situation, and thanked him for having allowed them to lead successful lives in the country.

Social Media Helps the Initiative Reach Thousands

Notable figure in the Indian media, Anil Lobo, contributed to awareness generation about the initiative through his social media presence. Lobo, who signed the pledge, created a video to encourage his followers to sign. Initially, it was a huge response, with nearly 18,000 comments by the people who wanted to know more about the scheme.

Lobo, who came to UAE for a job and then started his content creation agency, said the drive made people feel that their voice was heard and they were part of the future of UAE. Signing the pledge is a straightforward gesture, one that carries significance to him, and he hopes it’ll bring positive change to the community, he said.

UAE Continues to Attract Dreamers From Around the World

Indonesian executive chef Chef Mulyatna Sardiono highlighted the UAE as the land of opportunity, unity and hope. The country provides equal opportunities and fair treatment and offers a range of possibilities for people from all walks of life to embark upon improved futures,” he said. Signing the pledge was Sardiono’s heartfelt expression of appreciation to a country that still embraces and supports people from all over the world.

A Lifetime Connection to the UAE

Healthcare management professional, Dr Aya Haikal had a deeply personal relationship with the project. Having grown up in the United Arab Emirates, Haikal said the UAE has had a significant impact on her values, aspirations and journey. The project highlighted key values such as loyalty, responsibility, belonging and positive contribution to the community, she said. She announced the UAE’s commitment to opportunities and excellence for all UAE residents and shared her certificate online under the banner of Pledged and Committed.

A Shared Vision for the Future

More and more residents are taking part in the Pledge and Commitment initiative and feel it is more than a certificate or an online campaign. Both citizens of the UAE and those living in the country are part of the initiative and it has become an emblem of unity, living together and collective responsibility. While hailing from diverse backgrounds and cultures, religions, residents are united in a belief of the UAE’s future and as a community, they say they are dedicated to bringing the country up together.
