Etihad Rail Opens Passenger Train Bookings With 50% Launch Discount

Bookings are now open for the UAE’s first inter-emirate passenger train, Etihad Rail officially announced on Friday for its new Abu Dhabi to Fujairah route which will open for travel on June 30. The mode of service is designed to make travelling between the two Emirates faster and more comfortable with a journey time of only 1 hour and 45 minutes. In celebration, Etihad Rail will be discounting ticket prices by 50 per cent, which puts the price of a Comfort Class ticket at Dh55 and that of a Premium Class ticket at Dh120. The booking is done via the official Etihad (EY) Rail website and mobile application. According to initial plans, there will be three direct trains running every day in both directions.

Launch Fares Start From Dh55 

Those who book during the promotional time will get Comfort Class seats at Dh55 compared to Dh109. Tickets in Premium Class will be sold from Dh120 (from Dh239). Current fares are discounted for services between Abu Dhabi Station and Fujairah Station and will be available through the initial stages of the network.

Passenger Services Begin on June 30 

The Abu Dhabi–Fujairah passenger service will officially start operating on June 30, 2026. The line will form part of a much longer cross-country rail line to extend service from the north to the south and from west to east. The entire passenger rail system will be officially opened on September 30, 2026.

Daily Train Services Announced 

Booking information online shows the trains will leave Abu Dhabi at 8:19am, 1:53pm and 6:39pm. Trains in Fujairah will leave multiple times, including at 5.34am, 10.59am and 5.28pm.

More Stations to Join the Network

More rail runs will be added in the months ahead. Dubai and Al Dhaid stations are expected to open on September 30, 2026, while Al Dhafra stations will be rolled out in December. This further phase of the network expansion will see Sharjah Station open on March 30, 2027.

Modern Facilities at Rail Stations 

Mohamed Bin Zayed City is home to Abu Dhabi Station, Al Hilal City is home to Fujairah Station. Both stations will be open every day from 5am till 11pm. A series of amenities will be provided for passengers such as waiting rooms, sitting areas for families, car parks, prayer room areas, sales counters, a catering service, ticketing points, assistance points, taxi zones and bus facilities.

Comfortable Travel Experience Onboard 

Onboard passengers are assured “modern travelling facilities for ease and comfort”, says Etihad Rail. Guaranteed seat, on-board Wi-Fi, generous interior space and passenger services. The corps of passengers is formed by 13 trains accommodating up to 400 persons each, meeting the increasing public transportation needs of the country.

A Major Step Toward Connected Travel 

Launching passenger rail services are a major step forward in the UAE’s transportation network. The initiative connects some of the largest transit hot-ins and highlights its role to offer a safe, speedy, and eco-friendly alternative to road transport and enhance the movement of goods and people between emirates.
