Dubai Municipality Announces Approved Eid Al Adha Slaughterhouses
Dubai Municipality has approved five slaughterhouses throughout the emirate for their Qurbani business during Eid Al Adha. The facilities are fully equipped to offer safe, quick, and sanitary services for the residents, authorities said. The municipality added that the slaughterhouses are able to handle up to 1,000 animals an hour as expected in heavy demand during Eid days. On Tuesday, UAE authorities confirmed that the start of Eid Al Adha 2026 will be on Wednesday, May 27.

Finally, Dubai citizens will be allowed to conduct several animal welfare functions in the following approved areas:
- Al Qusais Abattoir
- Al Qusais Express Abattoir
- Al Quoz Abattoir
- Al Lisaili Abattoir

These centres are equipped to deliver efficient and high-quality services and to adhere to religious and health regulations, Dubai Municipality said.
Veterinary Inspection and Health Safety Measures
It has been confirmed that all slaughterhouses will be under strict watch to ensure food security and food safety for the public. Services will include:
- Veterinary Officer inspection before slaughter.
- Post-slaughter health checks
- Meat preparation and packaging.
- Sanitisation/sterilisation procedures
Some 45 vet medical experts will be monitoring during Eid. There will also be over 205 qualified butchers, 30 supervisors and about 165 workers. Qurbani will be undertaken by qualified butchers who abide by Islamic protocol and advanced sterilisation systems will help to maintain meat quality and avoid contamination.
Warning Against Illegal Slaughter Practices
Dubai Municipality has issued a warning to people not to slaughter animals outside of officially permitted premises. Unauthorised slaughtering creates serious risks in the following areas:
- Public health
- Environmental cleanliness
- Food contamination
- Waste management
The residents were cautioned to get their meat from licensed slaughterhouses for safe and hygienic handling of meat.
Smart Apps Available for Qurbani Services
Also, Dubai Municipality has promoted the citizens to make use of approved smart applications for Eid sacrifices. These digital platforms offer full service, such as:
- Purchasing sacrificial animals
- Slaughtering procedures
- Meat preparation
- Packaging and delivery
This enables the citizens to perform the whole kura’an hunting ritual without stepping out physically to the markets or slaughterhouse.
Dubai Municipality Official Statement
The Public Health Services Department chair at Dubai Municipality, Sultan Al Taher confirmed that the emirate’s slaughterhouses were fully equipped with advanced technologies for a smooth and safe experience with the customers. The municipality, he added, is still trying to sensitise members of the community on the need to avail themselves of qualified slaughterhouse operators with adequate hygienic conditions for slaughter.
