JEDDAH, April 28, 2026 -Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, confirmed on Tuesday that the security of countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is indivisible, and that any threat to any state will be a direct threat to the entire group.
Sheikh Abdullah spoke on behalf of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the 19th GCC Consultative Summit in Jeddah.
The summit was convened to review the growing regional trends with a keen interest in the repercussions of the recent Iranian missile attacks against civilians and critical infrastructures in various Gulf and Arab countries. The participants strongly criticized the strikes, terming them abuses of national sovereignty and violations of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The leaders present in the meeting reminded that the countries that are affected still have the right to respond in a manner that would protect their sovereignty, territorial integrity, and safety of their citizens and residents.
Sheikh Abdullah showed that he appreciated the support that he termed as a unified and supportive attitude of the GCC counterparts towards the UAE after the attacks. He stressed that the existing regional environment requires greater coordination and integration of Gulf states to face the security challenges such as extremism and terrorism.
The security of the GCC countries, Sheikh Abdullah said, is indivisible because the collective action is required to maintain the stability of the region.
He reasserted the unity of the UAE with other GCC countries and its endorsement of any action taken to safeguard national security, to guarantee national safety and to maintain development benefits. Another thing that he pointed out was that the UAE has remained determined in consolidating the role of GCC in enhancing long-term stability, peace, and sustainable development throughout the region.
Sheikh Abdullah had come to Jeddah earlier in the day where he was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Saudi Arabian government, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, as stated in the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
