UAE announced updates to its Nafis program, including extending the programme to 2040. They also introduced stronger measures to support families and increased private sector employment.
Key Changes
Emiratis who work in the private sector no longer have to limit their child support. The previous limit was 4.
The new benefits include:
- Children of Emirati women working in the private sector can receive up to Dh3,000 per month as a monthly allowance.
- Support of up to Dh3,000 per month for the wives working in private firms.
- Continued pension contribution support
Implementation
New beneficiaries will be eligible for the revised system starting September 2026. Existing recipients can transition to it up to 3 years before that date. The eligibility threshold has been fixed at Dh6,000.
Skilled Jobs
The next phase of the program will focus on quality jobs in areas such as real estate, banking, artificial Intelligence, and AI, instead of simply adding more positions.
Impact So Far
Nafis’ original goal of employing 176,000 Emiratis by 2021 has been exceeded. The majority of the beneficiaries are women. This programme is designed to improve family stability and build a competitive workforce in the private sector.
