Holiday on January 1

It has been officially announced by the UAE federal authority that all employees in the federal government will get a paid public holiday on Thursday, January 1, 2026. The holiday allows residents and employees to have the New Year celebrations in a relaxed environment with their family and friends.

Remote Work on January 2

Friday, January 2, 2026, will be a remote-work day in the federal government as a way to support flexibility and facilitate the smooth flow of work. Those employees who are on-site because of their work will keep doing what they were doing. The choice assists in reconciling job and personal life.

Nationwide Celebrations Planned

In the UAE, some of the largest events of the season in the New Year are being prepared. The families, tourists, and expatriates should expect rich performances, cultural events, and festival entertainments.

Major Events in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah is also intending to have a spectacular fireworks display of 15 minutes along a six-kilometer stretch of coastline. The event will have 2,300 drones, lasers, and pyrotechnics. Even the largest single firework ever in the air is getting the target of the organiser to break a Guinness World Record.

Dubai’s Festive Highlights

There will be various events in Dubai, such as fireworks, drone performances, live concerts, as well as a beach party. There will be entertainment in popular locations like Global Village, Atlantis The Pal, and Blue waters Island starting as early as the evening up to midnight.

Abu Dhabi’s Grand Showcase

Sheikh Zayed Festival of Abu Dhabi will provide one of the most stunning shows in the country. The visitors and residents can have a 62-minute fireworks show, which is the largest drone show in the world, and various cultural shows. The multi-stage show begins at 8 pm all the way to the midnight grand finale.

Authority’s Official Message

The federal government expressed its congratulations to the UAE government, leadership, and citizens. It also directed all entities in the government to work in accordance with the holiday requirements and to provide a smooth operation during the New Year season.
