On Wednesday, the day after a provisional ceasefire between the United States and Iran was officially declared, UAE announced it was intercepting 17 ballistic missiles and 35 drones.
Even though there is a two-week ceasefire in place brokered by Pakistan, tensions in the region are still high as other countries such as the UAE are still being subjected to aerial threats.
As of the war, the UAE Air Defence Forces have intercepted:
- 537 ballistic missiles
- 26 cruise missiles
- 2,256 drones
Casualties and Impact
According to reports by the authorities 224 people were injured in the attacks and there were victims of a recent attack on the Habshan gas plant, where two Emirati nationals and one Indian national sustained injuries.
The injured are a diverse group of people of various nationalities as the UAE has a multi-national workforce. These are citizens of Pakistan, India, Egypt, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Sudan, Ethiopia and many more.
The latest cases did not involve any new deaths. But the cumulative having shown:
- 2 confirmed martyrs
- 1 killed Moroccan civilian contractor
- There were 10 overall civilian casualties of Pakistanis, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian, and Egyptian nationalities.
The Ministry of Defence said that it was on high alert, reiterating that it is ready to deal with any threats and safeguard national security during diplomatic negotiations.
