More than 5,200 industrial-sector jobs have been created for Emiratis, allowing the UAE to exceed its target of 5,000 jobs by 2027 in this area. UAE has reached a big step in Emiratising industrial sector jobs, having created over 5,200 jobs, compared with the targeted 5,000 by 2027. This comes after over 70 companies displayed over 1,000 other job opportunities at the Industrialists Career Exhibition in Abu Dhabi.
Target Reached One Year Early
In 2023, the Government of Dubai launched the Industrialists Career Exhibition in the UAE under the National In-Country Value (ICV) programme, with a view to increasing the number of Emiratis in the industrial sector.
Speaking at the event, Ibtisam Al Saadi, who is Assistant Undersecretary for the Industrial Development Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, said that the programme had already met the key performance objective. They’ve exceeded their initial aim of 5,000 jobs created in 2027 with more than 5,200 positions now available.
Strong Demand from Job Seekers
The interest shown by the Emirati job seekers in the two-day exhibit was indeed on the high side. By the morning of the first day of the event, over 3,000 candidates had registered, organisers said. The rising number of participants is because companies are becoming popular for establishing career-laden jobs for them, officials explained.
AI and Advanced Technology Lead Demand
Job prospects are changing in the direction of occupations in the future, such as AI, Industrial Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, and Cyber technology. The authorities observed that the UAE’s efforts to achieve industrial and digital transformation are progressing with the constant increase in enrolments in the AI and technological programmes among Emirati students.
More Than 1,000 New Vacancies Available
Omar Al Nuaimi, Acting Group Chief Commercial and In-Country Value Officer, ADNOC said the programme has already provided around 4,200 opportunities before the exhibition this year. There are also 1,000 more jobs now being advertised and the programme is now exceeding its target earlier than anticipated.
Expanding Views of Industrial Careers
The jobs are varied and range from engineering and operations to logistics, finance, administration, health and safety to technology. They stressed that careers in industry now go beyond working in a traditional factory towards research centres, laboratories, Digital environments and advanced technology areas. The award shows the UAE’s commitment to improving the country’s capabilities and further development of the industrial sector for economic diversification.
