UAE Unveils Plan to Reduce Traffic Across Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman

Dubai Sharjah Ajman traffic plan

UAE has now presented a new transport plan to reduce the congestion amongst Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman with the emphasis given to better public transport and road development.

The plan contains 10 major routes that are serviced by Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems with special lanes and direct metro services as the results of minimization of the use of personal cars and the minimization of the time of commuting.

One of the highlights is the Fourth Federal Corridor (Dh6 billion), a 68km highway (up to eight lanes each way) which is designed to enhance connectivity and will offload the existing routes such as E11, E311 and E611.

There was also a review of the electricity to contain the increasing numbers of vehicles as the rate of growth in Dubai is 8.1 percent as compared to the usual 2 percent worldwide. The plan focuses on transport that acts as a whole, to enhance mobility, decrease jams and enhance life quality.
